Reviewing candidate responses

Willo gives you a complete set of tools to review all candidate responses, not just video. Whether a candidate responds using video, audio, text, or multiple choice, you can evaluate responses consistently, collaborate with your team, and make confident hiring decisions.

This article explains all the ways you can review candidate responses in Willo.

Accessing Candidate Responses

To review responses:

  1. Open the interview in your Willo dashboard.
  2. Select a candidate.
  3. Navigate through each question to view their responses.

Responses are displayed based on question type and can be revisited at any time.

Response Types You Can Review

Depending on how the interview is set up, candidates may respond using:

  • Video responses
  • Audio-only responses
  • Written (text) responses
  • Multiple choice answers

All response types are reviewed in the same place, using the same evaluation tools.

Watching or Reading Responses

Video & Audio Responses

  • Play, pause, rewind, or rewatch responses as needed
  • Review delivery, clarity, and communication style

Text Responses

  • Read full written answers directly within the response view
  • Useful for structured, detailed, or reflective questions

Multiple Choice Responses

  • Instantly see selected answers
  • Ideal for screening, knowledge checks, or eligibility questions

Transcripts (Where Available)

For audio and video responses, transcripts may be available depending on your plan.

Transcripts help you:

  • Scan long responses quickly
  • Find specific details without replaying media
  • Share written context with teammates

Transcripts support review but do not replace the original response.

AI Summary & Insights (Where Enabled)

For interviews with summaries enabled, Willo generates a candidate summary based on all response types, including video, audio, and text.

Summaries help you:

  • Understand strengths and areas for follow-up
  • Compare candidates more efficiently
  • Save time when reviewing high volumes of responses

Summaries are designed to support decision-making, not replace it.

Scorecards: Structured Evaluation

Scorecards allow you to assess candidates consistently across all response types. Learn more and create your own custom criteria >

You can:

  • Rate candidates against defined criteria
  • Apply the same evaluation framework to every candidate
  • Reduce bias by focusing on evidence rather than intuition

Scorecards are especially valuable when multiple reviewers are involved.

Comments & Team Feedback

Use comments to collaborate with your hiring team:

  • Leave notes on candidate responses
  • Highlight strong answers or concerns
  • Suggest follow-up questions for later stages

All feedback stays attached to the candidate, keeping collaboration organised and transparent.

Real Talk: Scripted & AI-Generated Indicators

For spoken responses (video and audio), Willo automatically analyses delivery and may indicate whether responses appear:

  • Naturally spoken
  • Scripted
  • AI-generated

These indicators provide additional context for reviewers and should be used as guidance, not as a standalone decision-maker. Learn more about Real Talk >

Sharing Responses with Others

You can share interviews with hiring managers or stakeholders:

  • Invite them as standard users
  • They can view all responses, complete scorecards, and leave comments
  • They cannot edit or delete the interview

This allows collaboration without losing control.

Best Practice Tips

  • Review responses in context rather than in isolation
  • Use scorecards and comments together for balanced evaluation
  • Treat AI insights as supporting signals, not verdicts
  • Encourage multiple reviewers for key roles
