How to Transfer Organisation Ownership in Willo
Need to hand over ownership of your organisation in Willo? No problem - it’s simple and secure.
Whether you’re stepping away or just switching responsibilities, this guide will show you how to transfer ownership to another team member in a few quick steps.
Who can transfer ownership?
Only users with the Admin role can change ownership. If you’re not an Admin, you’ll need to ask one in your team to make the change.
Steps to Transfer Ownership

Go to the Users page
From your Willo dashboard, click on your organisation name in the top right, then select Users.

Find the team member you’d like to make the new owner
Scroll through the user list or use the search bar to find the right person.

Click the Edit icon next to their name
This opens their permission settings.

Change their role to “Owner”
Use the dropdown menu under Role, and select Owner.

Save your changes
Hit Save to confirm the transfer.
What happens next?
- The new Owner will now have full access and admin privileges.
- Your role (as the previous owner) will automatically change to Admin.
- The change is applied instantly — no downtime, no disruption.
Is this action recorded?
For security and accountability, all ownership transfers are recorded in your organisation’s audit log, including:
- Who made the change
- Who the new owner is
- Date and time of the transfer
FAQs
Can I transfer ownership to someone who isn’t an Admin?
Yes - when you select “Owner”, that person will automatically gain Admin rights too.
Can I undo the change?
You can always reassign ownership to someone else by following the same steps.
Why don’t I see the option to assign “Owner”?
Only users with Admin rights can transfer ownership. If you don’t see the option, check your current role.
