Fix “Page not found” when candidates open a Willo invite link from Indeed
In some cases, candidates may see a “Page not found” error when opening a Willo interview invite sent through Indeed messages. This usually happens because of how Indeed handles external links or the candidate’s browser settings, rather than an issue with the Willo platform.
Why this happens
When employers send a Willo interview link directly through Indeed’s direct messaging system, Indeed may modify or redirect the link when the candidate clicks it.
This can occasionally cause the invite page to fail to load correctly, resulting in a “Page not found” message.
The interview itself remains active and accessible - the candidate simply needs to open the link another way.
How candidates can fix the issue
If a candidate reports this error, ask them to try one of the following steps.
1. Copy and paste the link into their browser
Instead of clicking the link inside the Indeed message:
- Copy the full invite link.
- Open a browser (Google Chrome works best).
- Paste the link into the address bar.
- Press Enter to open the interview.
2. Manually type the invite link
Candidates can also manually enter the invite URL into their browser.
Typing the link directly avoids the redirect that sometimes occurs within Indeed messages.
3. Open the link in a private browsing window
If the issue persists, ask the candidate to open the link in an Incognito / Private browsing window.
This avoids browser extensions or stored cookies that may interfere with the redirect.
How to do this:
Chrome
- Open Chrome
- Click the three-dot menu
- Select New Incognito Window
Safari
- Select File
- Click New Private Window
Then paste the invite link into the private window.
Best practice when sending Willo links via Indeed
To help candidates access interviews smoothly:
- Remind candidates they can copy and paste the link into their browser if it doesn’t open correctly
- Encourage use of Google Chrome for the best experience
- Ensure the full invite URL is included in the message
These steps resolve the issue in the vast majority of cases.
