Your right to have your personal data deleted
Under data protection law, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data - sometimes called the "right to be forgotten." This article explains how that process works when you have completed an assessment or recorded a video CV through Willo.
Who controls your data?
When you use Willo to complete an interview or screening assessment, you do so because an employer or recruiter has invited you. That employer is the organisation responsible for your personal data - in legal terms, they are the "data controller." Willo processes your data on their behalf, but we do not own it or make decisions about how it is used.
This means that to exercise your right to deletion, you need to contact the employer who invited you to the assessment. They are the right organisation to action your request and are legally required to respond to you.
How to submit your request
Contact the employer or recruiter who sent you the Willo assessment invitation. You can usually find their contact details in the invitation email you received. When you get in touch, let them know you would like your personal data deleted and mention that this includes any data held within the Willo platform.
Once the employer confirms your request with us, we will permanently delete your data from our systems - including any video responses, video CVs, transcripts, and associated information - within the timeframe set out in our agreement with them.
What if I cannot find the employer's contact details?
If you are having difficulty locating the right contact, you can reach out to our support team and we will do our best to point you in the right direction. Please note that we are not able to delete your data directly on your behalf - only the employer can authorise that.
Data held outside of Willo
The employer may also hold copies of your personal data in their own systems, separate from Willo. Your erasure request to them should cover all personal data they hold about you, not just what is stored in Willo.
